Hey everyone! Remember me. I'm Betty! I was found as a stray with my eyeball hanging out of the socket. I was taken to ACCT in Philly but needed a quick exit due to my injuries!! So the lovely ladies at NARPS sprinted into action and saved me! I have since then gotten the urgent care that I needed which included the removal of my eye. Meet the Notorious B.I.G!!! This handsome stud is around 3 years old, 63 lbs (little underweight) and successfully passed all of his behavior evaluations during his stay at the shelter!!!! ACCT Philly reported B.I.G. to be easy to leash, walk, socialize and handle!!! He is very playful with other pups and can be a lot to handle so we think he would do best in a home with no other pets. Meet our sweet momma, ALISE!!! She was found in Louisiana with her rottie/lab mix puppies. NARPS brought her pups up here, and they were adopted quickly. Alise needed to stay in Louisiana a little while longer to be treated for heartworm before making her long trip up here. Bogard came into NARPS in a crazy way. Other rescue friends found this guy tied to a pole in freezing temperatures this past December. Animal control showed up and whisked him off to ACCT Philly. There the vet immediately acknowledged he wasn't feeling so hot and pushed for rescue. We jumped right in and sent him off to our friends at VSEC Philadelphia for evaluation. There he was found to have an obstruction which required a costly surgery. We said okay let's go for it knowing that we would need to work our butts off to fundraise enough to cover it. Well he came out perfectly healthy and happy which made all the craziness worth it. After ... (Read More)the surgery we learned a few things about our large new family member. Although we don't know much about his past we can take a pretty solid guess that he was not being treated kindly. Bogard is a bit nervous, and requires someone to take the lead and show him the world is not so bad. He has a definite issue with men in particular but his foster is working with him on that. It takes him a few meets to warm up to guys. He is also only a pup, we are guessing still under a year. Bogard will absolutely require professional training which will be provided by NARPS for anyone who would like to foster. While he does need some work he has a lot of great things going his way! He is very dog friendly, and even doesn't mind cats. He is crate trained and knows his basic commands. Bogard walks wonderfully on a leash despite his large size. We do not think Bogard should be in a house with children because he has an issue with people touching his head (it crushes us to think what kind of life he had prior to coming to NARPS). oor Precious was surrendered to the high kill shelter in Philly in May 2017 by her owners because she was reportedly being aggressive towards other animals and having seizures. Unfortunately, we do not know the circumstances of her aggression, and were not given many details. She hasn't had any seizures since she's been in our care and we and her vet think her 'seizures' were related to her coughing from having had pneumonia (which she has fully recovered from). Hi everyone. I'm King, a 1 year old hound/pit mix. I'm a sweet, playful, affectionate boy with soft, brindle fur. I was found as a stray, so I'm still learning manners and how to properly behave. I still have an occasional accident inside the house, but it's not my fault. If there's a tree in the house, I figure it's okay to pee on. Haha! The people at NARPS have taught me how a good dog is supposed to behave and my foster dad is working with me to improve my behavior. Since I'm young, I've got lots of energy and like to play as well as take long walks. I'm still learning my boundaries inside a house. I don't know why my foster dad won't let ... Gracie is a very sweet, 6 year old Cane Corso mix who was found as a stray by ACCT Philly tied to a pole! How anyone could do that to her we'll never understand! Her sad past has definitely NOT defined how her future will play out!!! Gracie is a big sweet love at 97lbs and has been waiting for 10 months to find her forever family! Gracie adores children and has no trouble plopping herself right on their lap but should be in a home with kids over 8 years old. She loves spending some time playing outside, or just snuggling on the couch. While Gracie has done well with meeting some dogs we feel she would do best in a pet-free home. Gracie has ...
